Seeing the straight-forward Spock petting a cat and holding it close is funny because of the contrast between mercurial felines and level-headed Vulcans. Also, it's cute and heartwarming and makes the world a little more delightful if you are a fan of "Star Trek," Spock, cats or happy things in general.
Lastly, it's nice to see that the cat seems to fully enjoy the time on-screen in Spock's arms. The kneading paws and slow blink are the cat equivalent of saying "I love you." We loved you too, Spock. RIP Leonard Nimoy.
